Mentoring

Since 1999, Outback Arts has championed and supported artists across regional and remote Australia, building a strong, connected creative community. Our artist mentoring programs are a key part of this commitment—providing tailored support, industry guidance, and professional development opportunities that help artists at every stage of their careers grow, connect, and succeed.

We also showcase the region’s creative talent through Creative Country, our interactive artist directory and map, and celebrate First Nations artists through Living Arts and Culture—ensuring visibility, recognition, and cultural storytelling remain at the forefront of our work.

Outback Arts is dedicated to empowering artists in remote communities by providing access to mentoring, networks, and platforms to showcase their work. By investing in artist development and nurturing local talent, we play a vital role in supporting a thriving, diverse, and sustainable arts sector across regional Australia.

CASP

The Country Arts Support Program (CASP) is an annual small grants program administered by Outback Arts to support a creative and vibrant regional NSW arts scene.

Eligible activities include workshops, exhibitions, performances, artist-in-residence programs, and public art and design projects. Up to $3000 is up for grabs for each application.

The projects previously supported in the Outback Arts region include music festivals, performance development and presentation, creative skill workshops in painting, how to work with resin, public artwork and local history being captured in artistic displays.

This long-running funding program is administered by Outback Arts in partnership with Create NSW.

CASP is all about giving regional people access to a diverse range of cultural programs each year and bringing opportunities that may otherwise not be available.

The online application is released in the early part of each year. All applicants are required to discuss their proposals with the team at Outback Arts before submission.

Funding Support and Auspicing

Outback Arts provides funding support and auspicing services for artists, creatives, and community groups across the Outback NSW region, helping bring innovative arts projects to life in regional and remote communities.

We work closely with leading funding bodies to deliver grant writing workshops—both online and in-person—equipping artists with the skills and knowledge to successfully apply for arts funding.

Outback Arts partners with local and touring artists to develop competitive grant applications that deliver meaningful creative outcomes for the region. Through our auspicing services, we support individuals and groups without legal status by managing funds and compliance requirements, making it easier to access funding and deliver high-quality arts projects.

By increasing access to arts funding, building grant-writing capacity, and providing reliable auspicing, Outback Arts plays a key role in growing creative opportunities and supporting a vibrant, sustainable arts sector across Outback NSW.
