Our region.

Outback Arts is a small non-profit incorporated organisation providing big opportunities to artists and creative people in our region. Our footprint services seven local government areas of Bourke (Ngemba, Baakindji, Murrawarri and Kunya), Brewarrina (Muruwari, Ngemba Weilwan and Yualwarri), Coonamble (Wailwan and Gamilaroi), Cobar (Ngiyampaa Wangaapuwan), Walgett (Gamilaroi/ Gamilaraay & Yuwaalaraay ), Bogan (Wangaaypuwan (Wongaibon), Ngemba, Ngiyampaa and Wayilwan (Weilwan) and Warren (Ngiyambaa). The region covers an area of 163,886 kms and has a population of 26,400.

Outback Arts is part of the statewide regional network of 15 Regional Arts Organisations, funded by Create NSW and supported by the NFP peak body Regional Arts NSW. Individually and collectively, the RADO network work with creative organisations, councils, governments and philanthropic sector to maximise the opportunities available for arts and cultural activities in regional and remote NSW.
We believe that arts and culture contribute to the vibrancy, prosperity and wellbeing of communities across our region.

Our Strategic Plan

Our strategic plan delivers on core services through our four creative focus areas:


1. Artists + Industry: deliver innovative opportunities for artistic exchange and growth in the sector through residencies, partnerships, First Nations Arts support, markets, and exchanges.

2. Culture + Community: Ensure programs are led by community, fostering opportunity and capacity through community partnerships, audience engagement, arts advice and information, advocacy and strategic projects.

3. Marketing + Promotion: Increase connectivity and awareness of arts and culture in the region through effective communications relevant to regional audiences and community stakeholders extending cultural tourism opportunities for the region.  

4. Professional Development: Foster the development of creative entrepreneurship and cultural capacity through partnerships, market opportunities, creative business development, industry networks, resourcing, and strategic projects.
