Get ready to hear some big news…. we are having a pARTy and everyone’s invited. At long last Outback Arts presents the Grand Opening of the Creative Arts Centre. Saturday 12th October 2019 we will be showcasing the Centre in all its completed glory, with each part of the space activated in a variety of ways.
There will be party food, a textile sensory room, short film screening, street art workshop with Lightning Ridge artist Vicki Murray, badge making and more! To top it all off, there will be live music by Coonamble’s own chart-topper, Kylie Gale. It will be a memorable day celebrating art and culture in our region and showcase the possibilities the Creative Arts Centre provides for our region through exhibitions, gallery shop and studio space.
Visitors will be coming from far and wide to participate and to check out the exhibition of the Outback Archies. That’s right, the official opening of the Outback Archies will coincide with the event and the winners of the annual art prize will be announced. This year has seen a little over 70 entries overall which will now undergo a preselection process before being selected for the exhibition. The quality of all entries is a testament to the arts practice happening in our area and with the Outback Arts region extending to cover the Bogan Shire, 2019 entries have included some excited participants from Nyngan.
It will be an action-packed weekend with the Annual Strawberry Fair at St Barnabas Church on Saturday morning, then our pARTy running from 10am – 2pm, and that’s not all! Sunday is the Coonamble Gold Cup Race meeting, the biggest meeting of the year bringing crowds from all over and
fashions fit for Randwick. You may even spot handmade headwear created as part of our millinery workshops delivered across the region by Waltraud Reiner. Saturday NIGHT? The Coonamble Jockey Club will be hosting a Calcutta at the Terminus Hotel. It sure is THE weekend to be in Coonamble!
