These groovy gals are the Creative Faces behind Signal Creative. Emma Hoy and Caroline Wallace run participant-lead programming, meaning every project is so different. Here’s what they had to say:
We’re all about creating supportive and safe spaces where all ideas are welcome and are beyond excited to be working with Outback Arts on our new collaboration – Women Outfront. We have been working with young women in Warren and Walgett to support them in creating original works around what inspires them, resulting in the Dryland Wetlands and River Stories projects.
We are already so impressed by the enthusiasm and talent of the young women we’re working with, we’ll be coming back for the next three years, so keep your eyes out for installations and performances in the area!
We met around 15 years ago and have been collaborating on music projects and events ever since. After working together in Arnhem Land we decided to create our own program, just for women, using all the skills we had built-up professionally in sound production, music tuition, costume making, performance, dance, DJing and curating events.
As well as another upcoming trip to Warren and Walgett later in the year, we are travelling to Wyndham in Western Australia to create a pilot for our new podcast series, have been nominated as finalists for Diversity in Music at the Australian Women in Music Awards and are performing at Nightfest in Canberra on the iconic Stage 88!
