Media
Releases and how to write one
One of the easiest ways to get your information read
out, printed, or otherwise distributed, is to put it
in an easy-to-read format. The less mucking around
people need to do the more likely you are to get a
plug for whatever it is you’re promoting.
A media release is a great way to format information
for any kind of promotion – if you don’t know how to
write one, a simple pro forma you can follow is:

SAMPLE MEDIA RELEASE – 18 Jan 07, Outback Arts
Murawari Artist accepted into WOMADelaide Tjanpi
Desert Weavers Project
Murawari woman and Coonamble resident Louise Marne
has been selected as one of only 15 artists
internationally to take part in the WOMADelaide
Tjanpi Desert Weavers Project. The project, which
is part of the prestigious annual WOMADelaide world
music festival in South Australia this March, will
involve Louise and another 14 selected artists,
meeting and learning from six Ngaanyatjarra
Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands fibre artists.
During the workshops a number of large scale woven
forms will be created and exhibited at WOMADelaide
2007. With a passion for her culture and a strong
desire to revitalise the practice of weaving in far
west NSW Louise is thrilled by the invitation. She
is currently working toward creating opportunities
for other Aboriginal artists in the area to sell
their art and cultural products and has met with
Department of State and Regional Development and
Business Enterprise Centre representatives on the
development of the business.
Louise continues to work with Regional Arts NSW’s
Outback Arts to plan and also seek financial support
and sponsorship for her journey to WOMadelaide at
the end of February.
