Best in Show 2011 – Tom Riley – ‘Lake Annecy Boatman’

The 2012 Macquarie Photography Prize categories are ‘Funny Faces’, ‘Storms’, ‘Architecture’ and ‘Arthouse’. In Arthouse anything goes!!

Only $5 per photo to enter online.
Entrants are eligible from any country and can be of any age.
Prizemoney is $10,000AUD. Best in Show will receive $5,000AUD and the 4 sectional winners $500AUD each. The People’s Choice winner receives camera equipment worth $3,000AUD.

Exhibitions in Sydney, Dubbo and Orange in NSW, Australia during July 2012.

Weather Calendar Photo Competition
DEADLINE: 31 March 2012
 
Entries for the 2013 Australian Weather Calendar photo competition are now open for photographers of all nationalities. So if you’re considering visiting Australia or its territories, make sure you bring your camera. Look out for great photos of:
•clouds
•thunderstorms
•lightning
•rainbows and
•tornadoes
NOTE: Entries must include Australian landscapes and skies, (also Australian territories).

Australian Year of the Farmer Photography Competition

Held in conjunction with Fairfax Media and Elders, this competition celebrates and enriches the connection between rural and urban Australia. The competition ends 6pm (AEST) 30/9/12 and is open to Australian residents. Under 18’s must have parent/guardian consent. Max 1 entry per person per day.

Major National Prize and overall Winner
• $10,000 worth of photographic equipment

Monthly Prizes
• A voucher for $500 worth of photographic equipment for the best entry across all categories/States and Territories
• Each month we’ll be awarding up to 48 $50 vouchers supplied by Cellarmaster Wines and WISH amongst others- that’s one for each of the 6 categories in each State/Territory and a total of 432 prizes over the 9 months.

Department of Primary Industries Fishing Photography competition

Entries are now open for the Recreational Fishing Photo Competition for the 2013 calendar. So don’t miss your chance to have your photo among the twelve to be featured in the Recreational fishing calendar. Entries close on the 31st of July 2012 so you have got plenty of time to find that perfect shot!
Photo entries must have been taken in NSW to be eligable for the calendar. Entries need to be received by the Recreational Fisheries staff by the 31st of July 2012.

Visual arts – Painting, Ceramic and Photography – Art Unlimted (Dunedoo)

Organizers of Art Unlimited are calling for entries from artists, photographers and ceramicists for the fourth annual competition to be staged in Dunedoo on 18, 19 and 20 May 2012.

Prize money totals $11,250 and includes:
Pro Hart Prize for Hanging Art – $3000
Print Storm Prize for Photography – $3000
Ceramics Prize – $3000
Sullivans CRT People’s Choice Award – $500
Western Plains Cultural Centre Emerging Artist Prize – $500
Fairview ArtSpace Prize – $500
Orana Arts Aboriginal Artist Prize – $500
The Janace Holmes Memorial Prize – $250

Works must express the artist’s view of contemporary life and represent a personal statement executed in the artist’s chosen medium.

The Art Unlimited event will be held in Dunedoo on 18, 19 and 20 May 2012. Judging will take place on Friday 18 May and winners announced at a preview reception that evening. The exhibition will be open to the public throughout the weekend of 19 and 20 May.

The Twisted Stringybark Short Story Award 2012

Closing date for entries is 4 March 2012.

The Twisted Stringybark Short Story Award 2012 is open.  All genres accepted.  There are only two constraints.  Firstly, that the story must have a nifty twist at the end that surprises the reader and secondly, that the story must have some link, no matter how tenuous, to Australia.

The Twisted Stringybark Short Story Award 2012 will be presented to the writer whose story entertains the judges the most.  International entries are most welcome. Stories can be fiction, non-fiction or a combination of both – see the FAQ.

The Twisted Stringybark Short Story Award 2012 offers the winner A$300 cash, a certificate, publication and a free copy of the anthology (both paperback and e-book).  The second prize winner receives A$125 cash, a certificate, publication and a free copy of the anthology (both paper back and e-book) and the third prize winner receives $50 cash, a certificate, publication and a free copy of the anthology (both paper back and e-book).  Authors of highly commended stories are also be invited to have their stories published.

There is an entry fee of $9.75 for one story, $18 for two stories or $25 for a maximum of three stories.

Stories must be sent via email.   Closing date for entries is 4 March 2012.  Winners will be notified by 16 April 2012.  The word limit is 1500 words.
