Dhinawan Sisters

Coonamble Aboriginal Women's Group.

Dhinawan Sisters enables access to a suite of training opportunities with a focus on creative design, and new creative industry skills. The Project is delivered by Outback Arts, at their Coonamble-based headquarters. The Project engages young women in Coonamble ages 17 to 25 years, post-school to develop a pathway to establish a social enterprise, other business models, or employment opportunities. The focus is on skills exposure and development within the creative design portfolio such as screen printing, art, photography, ceramics and needlecraft, and will also incorporate governance and business options.

Participants learn governance skills to support their involvement in running a social enterprise, and business, as well as being encouraged to participate in community leadership opportunities such as Youth Council, Local Aboriginal Land Council membership etc. The Project develops and/or strengthens the partnership between Outback Arts, Training Services NSW, Coonamble High School, Coonamble Shire Council, and the non-government sector for Coonamble to deliver the outcomes.
