The Gravity! Kids Aerial Dance Workshops

The Gravity is a free workshop combining elements of contemporary dance and aerial apparatus (Hoop and Silks). This workshop is designed for beginners and the content will be adjusted to suit each individual's abilities. Participants learn elements of contemporary dance and are invited to contribute ideas to the final piece. Participants also learn a combination of tricks on the aerial apparatus and put it all together at the end of the workshop.

MUST KNOW INFORMATION:

What to wear:

  • Long leggings and a t-shirt (or similar). The aerial apparatus require grip behind the knees, armpits and across the back, these areas will need to be covered to protect the skin.

What NOT to wear:

  • Jewellery or anything sharp or with zips - facilitators will need to be advised of any body piercing that can’t be removed so piercing can be taped for safety. Participants are advised to refrain from aerial activities if they have new piercings.

Please be aware:

  • Participants who are ill (cold/flu/covid) can not attend, please let us know if your child is sick so we can have someone else participate in their place.

  • Participants are expected to behave in a respectful and inclusive manner toward facilitators and other participants.  

  • For safety reasons, failure to follow instructions will result in removal from the activity.

THE GRAVITY - AGREEMENT FOR PARTICIPANTS AND PARENTS/GUARDIANS

I hereby agree to the following:

  1. My child is participating in classes or services during which they will receive information and instruction about aerial fitness and aerial dance. I recognise that aerial sports require physical exertion, which may be strenuous and may cause physical injury, and I am fully aware of the risks and hazards involved for my child.

  2. I represent and warrant that my child has no medical condition that would prevent participation in physical fitness activities and is in good health and able to perform all exercises which they are to learn during The Gravity with Signal Creative, Outback Arts and associated partners.

  3. In consideration of being permitted to participate in the aerial classes, I agree to assume full responsibility for any risks, injuries or damages, known and unknown, which my child might incur as a result of participating in the program.

  4. In further consideration of being permitted to participate in the aerial classes, I knowingly, voluntarily, and expressly waive any claim I may have against the instructor, the owner, or the leaseholder of the building for injuries or damages that I may sustain as a result of participating in The Gravity workshop facilitated by Signal Creative, Outback Arts and associated partners

  5. No person should attend The Gravity if they have symptoms of any kind: fever of any degree, cough, runny nose etc. Please do not come – stay home and seek professional medical attention. Any participant of The Gravity who presents with any of the symptoms listed in above point (5) will be asked to leave the facility and seek medical advice without refund of the class. Any Related Party of The Gravity has the ability to make this decision effective immediately.

  6. Signal Creative, Outback Arts and associated partners may take occasional photos of your child and post them to publicly including social media, websites, print etc.  By signing this waiver I agree to allow photos of my child to be uploaded to all digital media and other advertising platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, and Signal Creative, Outback Arts and associated partners’ websites.  If I choose to opt out, I acknowledge that I must contact the organisers of the activity and state I do not want photos taken of my child.  To do so, please contact Outback Arts on (02) 6822 2484.

  7. I represent and warrant that my child will follow the directions of the instructor and that any misconduct or refusal by myself to follow such direction from the instructor can result in the cancellation of my lesson and immediate removal from the class. I understand that any such non- compliance may result in injury and repeated refusal to follow directions from the instructor may result in removal from the activity.

  8. All participants and anyone associated with them are expected to behave in a respectful and inclusive manner toward facilitators and other participants.  Failure to do so will result in removal from the activity.
