Warren Shire

Warren - Warren Shire, situated on the banks of the Macquarie River and located on the Oxley Highway 120kms north west of Dubbo, NSW is Australia's Wool and Cotton Capital The Macquarie Marshes, undoubtedly the most significant wetland complex in Australia, are located 50 km north of Warren, and are listed on the Ramsar Convention as a wetland area of international importance. The area is extremely flat except for occasional granite outcrops, the largest being Mt Foster (250m) and Mt Harris (240m).  Both of these are in a close proximity and are offshoots of the Warrumbungle Range, which may be seen in the distance.  The elevation of Warren is 197m and the general slope of the land is less than 3 degrees.Warren, the wool and cotton capital of Australia, is located on the Oxley highway, situated on the banks of the Macquarie River and by road 120kms north west of Dubbo. The Warren Shire is extremely flat except for occasional granite outcrops, which are offshoots of the Warrumbungle Range.
