Yaamma Festival A Celebration of Community & Culture

In 2005 the "Yaamma (Welcome) Festival" came out of the Bourke Aboriginal Community Working Party Plan entitled: Building Bridges: Having Fun and Living Well. The festival was held over 8 days, each day highlighting a particular aspect of the Bourke community development plan.  It has been designed to unite the community through creative processes & provides a positive & fun vehicle to launch the themes of Spirit, Soul, Heart, Mind and Body. The festival project also aims to unite communities along the river system & promote healing & reconciliation between all peoples.
