School's Out Circus Program
will run in the July 2009
school holidays.
LOCATIONS:
Coonamble, Walgett, Goodooga, Lightning Ridge, Cobar, Bourke
PROJECT BRIEF:
Building on the success of circus in the Outback Arts region
and the identified need for organised school holidays
activities in the region this project will seek to build
skills and develop and identify a community circus
network which can continue to foster a culture of
circus arts in each location in partnership with young
people.
WORKSHOP
ACTIVITIES:
To be
confirmed.
Suggested activities include hoola-hooping, acrobatics and
floor work, baton twirling, and juggling.
OBJECTIVES:
To provide an active and engaging outlet for young people
during the school holidays in July 2009

To identify community members interested in participating
in and supporting
circus arts activities
-
To develop skills and network resources for identified
community members and participants
-
To develop a productive cross sectoral relationship
between DASR, Outback Arts,
regional
circus identities,
and locally based youth services and community volunteers
using circus
-
To encourage ongoing development of performance skills in
young people and for these skills to be potentially
utilised and showcased in future local events and
activities
FORMAT:
2 x 3 hour
workshops
in each town 10am - 5pm
(with
1 hour break)
Max 20-30 in group depending on support people
TARGET GROUPS:
Young people aged 12-18yrs
